  • Firearm theft in Australia

    The Firearm theft in Australia 2006-07 annual report shows 1,526 firearms were stolen in 626 reported incidents. This represented an increase of 81 stolen firearms from the previous year. While the incidence of firearm theft in Australia has remained relatively constant in recent years, the safe storage of firearms remains a serious issue.

  • Homicide in Australia

    The AIC has released the 2006-07 National Homicide Monitoring Program report. The report provides an overview of key characteristics of the 18th annual collection of homicide data, the most comprehensive collection on homicide in Australia, including details on victims, offenders and incident circumstances. Australia wide, 260 incidents of homicide occurred in the year, taking 266 victims and involving 296 offenders. This was a decrease of 23 incidents and 45 victims from the previous year.     Trends and Issues paper No. 367 Measuring police performance in domestic and family violence reports on a number of performance indicators that could be used by police to measure effectiveness in responding to and reducing family violence.

  • Australasian Consumer Fraud Taskforce Survey 2009

    The AIC is a member of the Australasian Consumer Fraud Taskforce (ACFT). The ACFT would like to know about any fraud attempts or scams you have been targeted by and how you have responded to them. Gathering this information will help to improve the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of scam offenders.
